Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium

The Government provides schools with additional funding, known as Pupil Premium, to help reduce inequalities and close gaps in attainment between disadvantaged pupils and their peers.

At Ropsley Church of England Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils, regardless of background or circumstance, are supported to flourish academically, socially and emotionally. Pupil Premium funding is used to accelerate progress, raise attainment and support wellbeing by removing barriers to learning and improving access to high-quality teaching, targeted support and enriching experiences.

We recognise that disadvantage can take many forms and that pupils’ needs change over time. As such, Pupil Premium funding is used flexibly and responsively to meet the identified needs of individuals and groups, rather than through a one-size-fits-all approach. Our focus is always on providing the right support at the right time.

All members of staff, including governors, share responsibility for the progress and wellbeing of disadvantaged pupils and are committed to meeting their academic, pastoral and social needs within the school environment.

Governors have a statutory responsibility to oversee the use of Pupil Premium funding and to ensure that it is spent effectively. Each year, the school publishes a Pupil Premium Strategy Statement, which outlines how the funding is used and evaluates its impact. This information is available on the school website and is updated annually.

Principles

At Ropsley Church of England Primary School:

  • We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all pupils.

  • We make appropriate provision for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, including those who are socially disadvantaged.

  • We recognise that not all pupils eligible for free school meals are socially disadvantaged, and not all socially disadvantaged pupils are eligible for free school meals.

  • We reserve the right to allocate Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or group of pupils who the school has legitimately identified as being in need of additional support.

The Pupil Premium Strategy Statement linked below sets out the full range of approaches we use to support pupils and help every child achieve their potential.
