Welcome to the Year 3/4 class page!
This year, we have two Year 3/4 classes.
'Mandela Class', named after Nelson Mandela, will be taught by Mrs Wynne and Mrs Harrison. 'Class Teresa', named after Mother Teresa will be taught by Miss Langley.
This term, our topic is Fairtrade!
Our Fairtrade topic will focus on Geography. During our Geography lessons, we will be locating the world's countries on a map of the world, comparing the UK with an area in South America.
Our Science topic is Animals, including humans. The children will identify how all animals, including humans need the right types and amount of nutrition, sourced from what they eat. We will look at the digestive system and teeth in humans whilst also constructing food chains- identifying predators, producers and prey.
Our Maths will start off with place value with Year 3 children comparing three-digit numbers and Year 4 comparing four-digit numbers, finding 10, 100 or 1000 more or less than a given number. Homework will be matched to the learning that has taken place in the classroom.
Our English will begin with looking at stories with familiar settings and we will use a text called 'Sand Wizards', before the children have a go at writing a story of their own. Each week your child will come home with a list of words that they can practise spelling. These are taken from the Year3/4 National Curriculum and we aim for children to be able to read and write these.
In RE, we will be answering a big question; 'Why do we celebrate?' and in Music, we will be singing along to Mamma Mia.
PE for both classes will be taught on a Friday. Children will need to arrive at school in their PE kits on a Friday. It is going to be very exciting as this term we have an Inspire+ coach to teach the children Rugby.
