Welcome to the Nadim class page.

We are named after Nadia Nadim- an Afghani woman who fled the Taliban's previous reign with her mother and sisters for Denmark. She went on to represent her adopted country in football and also played for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. She was named UNESCO Champion for Girls' and Women's Education in 2019. She speaks nine languages and whilst being a footballer, she has trained to be a surgeon and will do this full-time when she retires from football.

This half term, our topic is 'Earth and space'. The children will be learning about: the planets; spherical bodies; heliocentric and geocentric models; the Space Race; astronauts, and the importance of women in space travel over the decades.

In English, the children will be looking at: fiction genres; a focus on formal and informal writing in play scripts, and a literary study.

In maths, the children will be learning about fractions, decimals, percentages, converting units of measure, perimeter, area, volume, statistics, algebra and ratio.

In science, we are studying Earth and space, and living things and their habitats.

PE this half term is gymnastics and yoga.

The children will be looking at data in computing.

In art, the children will be studying photography.

After half term in DT, the children will make moveable vehicles.

In French, the children will look at being in hobbies and trips.

In RE, Life's journeys (with a focus on Hinduism and Islam) are being learned.

Music is based upon 'Make you feel my love' and then 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air' in the second half term.

In PSHE, the children are learning about 'Dreams and goals', followed by 'Healthy Me'.
