Welcome to the Nadim class page.
We are named after Nadia Nadim- an Afghani woman who fled the Taliban's previous reign with her mother and sisters for Denmark. She went on to represent her adopted country in football and also played for Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain. She was named UNESCO Champion for Girls' and Women's Education in 2019. She speaks nine languages and whilst being a footballer, she has trained to be a surgeon and will do this full-time when she retires from football.
This term, our topic is 'Rivers'. The children will be learning about: the water cycle; the journey of a river; locating local, national and international rivers; flooding; dams, and the use of rivers in tourism and trade.
In English, the children will be looking at: significant authors; biographies and autobiographies; playscripts, and persuasive writing.
In maths, the children will be learning about place value, the four operations and fractions.
In science, we are studying forces and electricity.
PE this term is swimming, football and golf.
After learning about staying safe online, the children will be looking at data in computing.
In art, the children study basic skills before moving on to exploring art with a message. After half term in DT, the children will make bridges.
In French, the children will look at being in France and actions.
In RE, the Creation story is being learned.
Music is based upon 'Living on a prayer' and then the Christingle service in the second half term.
In PSHE, the children are learning about stereotypes, prejudices and discrimination.
